Welcome to the Iron Bulwark

Welcome to the Iron Bulwark

Today I’m excited (and admittedly a bit anxious) to introduce you to Iron-Bulwark.org—a project born out of frustration, concern, and ultimately, hope for our community. This site exists for one purpose: to provide clear, public information on local government and tax decisions that affect every household in Iron County.

Why This Project Exists

In late 2024, the Iron County School District quietly distributed $2.69 million in bonuses that December. At the time, no concern was raised about school safety, portable classrooms, or loss of programs or faculty. The money was spent, the decision was celebrated by some, and the subject seemed closed.

Fast forward to August 26th, 2025, however, and the School Board voted at the Administration's request to increase taxes, seeking an additional $2,465,071 in new revenue. This time, the justification pointed to the very real safety concerns of students being taught in outdated modular and portable classrooms, among other realities that we face as well – rising costs, inflation, and an unpredictable economy.

But many in the community are asking:

  • If safety and inflation were such an urgent concern, why wasn’t it prioritized before large bonuses were distributed?
  • Why are taxpayers now being asked to carry an additional burden for needs that should have been foreseeable and planned for responsibly?

These contradictions are what sparked the creation of Iron-Bulwark.org.

What You’ll Find Here

This website is designed to shine light on decisions that might otherwise go unnoticed. Many residents don’t know about upcoming tax increases, budget allocations, or how schools and local government are prioritizing funds until it’s too late. By gathering this information in one place, we hope to:

  • Publicize financial decisions that impact every taxpayer.
  • Explain in plain terms what these changes mean for families and businesses.
  • Empower the community with facts so that we can hold decision-makers accountable.

Why "Iron Bulwark"?

The name comes from the idea of a bulwark—a solid wall of protection. Our goal is to be a defense against opacity in local governance. The stronger the wall of community knowledge, the harder it becomes for questionable financial decisions to pass quietly.

What Comes Next

This is only the beginning. Over the coming weeks, Iron-Bulwark.org will publish updates, analysis, and resources designed to keep every resident informed. From school board votes to county financial moves, we’ll track the choices being made with your tax dollars.

This project is not about partisanship or personal attacks—it’s about transparency, accountability, and fairness.

Contributors are primarily myself (Ryan Le 👋) and guest content writers. We will hold the highest standards in factual, detailed, and easily-referenced information. If you would like to contribute, please reach out to me (See About page). Flyers with QR codes and distribution packages are in the works. There will never be personal attacks against any Public Official, Administrator, Community member, or any individual whatsoever, as we intend to hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity, honor, and commitment to our neighbors.
